Softball Game Preview: White Bear Lake Bears vs. Roseville Raiders

The White Bear Lake Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Roseville Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. White Bear Lake's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Roseville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

White Bear Lake barely beat East Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears put the hurt on the Raptors with a sharp 9-2 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Raptors: they've now won five in a row.

Lilly Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anessa Pe?a, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Lauren Simmons was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

White Bear Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Roseville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Stillwater, falling 13-3.

Roseville's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for White Bear Lake, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
