Softball Recap: Watertown Raiders vs. Burlington Red Devils
Watertown had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Burlington Red Devils, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in April.
As for Burlington, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Burlington's part, Jennifer McFadden looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Isabel Ortiz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Sofia Pantajos also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Watertown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-8 victory against Everett on the 9th. As for Burlington, they have also already played their next game, a 14-10 win against Winchester on the 11th.
