Softball Recap: Lincoln's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of five wins, Lincoln's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against the Doddridge County Bulldogs, falling 16-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 back in March.

Lincoln saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brogan Sampson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Sampson launched this season. Aspen Dyer was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Doddridge County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Coincidentally, Lincoln and Doddridge County will both be playing Fairmont Senior the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Polar Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Cougars will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
