Baseball Game Preview: Hanna Golden Eagles vs. Harlingen Cardinals

Hanna hasn't had much luck against Harlingen recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Hanna fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Veterans Memorial on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 5-4. The Golden Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Hanna saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gene Martinez, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Martinez's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Harlingen suffered their closest loss since March 13th on Saturday. They fell just short of Harlingen South by a score of 6-4. Cardinals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hawks since on Saturday.

Hanna's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Harlingen, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Hanna beat Harlingen 8-5 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
