Softball Recap: Rosman Comes Up Short

Rosman extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-10 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Owen Warhorses. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Rosman saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rebecca Queen, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

As for Owen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Owen, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Owen's side, Sophie Neal was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Neal has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Owen got a massive performance out of Payten Brockman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Brockman has posted since back in May of 2024. Savannah Hollingsworth also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Coming up, Rosman will challenge Swain County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owen, they will square off against Madison at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
