Hayfork skates past Surprise Valley with ease

Recap: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Surprise Valley Hornets

The Hayfork Timberjacks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Surprise Valley at home to the tune of 83-33. Hayfork has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Hayfork's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Cavalli, who scored 16 points along with eight steals and seven assists. Cavalli hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Tatem Wiley was another key contributor, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 3 assists.

Surprise Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Iina Nabahe-Henry, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Paul Bartolo who scored six points along with nine rebounds. Nabahe-Henry has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played.

The victory (which was Hayfork's seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Surprise Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Hayfork will head out on the road to take on Tulelake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Leo Leon and Cavalli. As for Surprise Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bethel Christian at 5:00 p.m.
