Football Recap: Moore Haven Starts Season with Victory Against Gateway Charter

Moore Haven took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 36-12 margin over the Gateway Charter Griffins. Given the Terriers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Griffins are ranked 530th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gateway Charter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Michael Walker, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown, and Dontrell Tillman, who picked up 63 receiving yards and one score. Tillman was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 63 yards.

Gateway Charter dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moore Haven will take on Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gateway Charter, they will face off against LaBelle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
