Baseball Recap: Clay City Has No Trouble Against North Knox

Clay City won the last time they faced North Knox and things went their way on Saturday too. The Eels were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Eels have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Stoelting made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Stoelting was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reed Sawyer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Mason Sheese was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Clay City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got Clay City back to even at 7-7. As for North Knox, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay City will venture away from home to take on Eastern Greene at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbirds have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for North Knox, they will head out on the road to square off against South Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
