Volleyball Recap: Bayfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of seven wins, Bayfield's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against the Cherry Creek Bruins, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for the Wolverines seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Evelette Hollibaugh paced Bayfield's offense, picking up ten kills. Hollibaugh got some help from Avery Shipman and her 14 assists.

Cherry Creek was led to victory by Avery Eisen and Elsie Switzer. Eisen had 12 digs and two aces, while Switzer had six digs and four assists. What's more, Eisen posted three assists, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Harper Mueller also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Cherry Creek, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Bayfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Denver South on the 1st. As for Cherry Creek, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cheyenne Mountain on the 1st.
