Silver Valley hasn't had much luck against Big Bear recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Bears at 3:15 p.m.
Silver Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on Friday. They came up short against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy, falling 10-2.
Meanwhile, Big Bear had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagle a 10-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Kali Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kira Ellsworth, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addyson Clays, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Big Bear kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Silver Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Big Bear, their record is now 19-1.
Silver Valley might still be hurting after the 23-1 defeat they got from Big Bear in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
