St. Joseph Central skates past Tug Valley with ease

Recap: St. Joseph Central Irish vs. Tug Valley Panthers

The St. Joseph Central Irish entered their tilt with the Tug Valley Panthers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. St. Joseph Central breezed by Tug Valley at home to the tune of 61-23. Given St. Joseph Central's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Tug Valley is ranked 90th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Joseph Central found their leader in underclassman Ava Gallion, who scored 19 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Lee, who scored nine points along with two steals.

Tug Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bailee Hall, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.

St. Joseph Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Tug Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

St. Joseph Central will square off against Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Huntington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Tug Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against WestSide at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
