Baseball Recap: Tucumcari Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Tucumcari barely beat Estancia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rattlers were the clear victors by a 27-6 margin over the Bears on Tuesday. That looming 27-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rattlers yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Matt Gomez, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Tucumcari is 2-1 when Gomez posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jadon Navarro, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

Tucumcari kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Tucumcari's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Estancia, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tucumcari will venture away from home to take on Melrose at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rattlers will need to watch out since the Buffaloes have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Estancia, they will head out on the road to challenge Raton at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
