Basketball Recap: Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Comes Up Short

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans. The Phoenix lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-51 score last time.

Despite the loss, Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate still got an impressive performance from TASHANDA MADZVIMBO, who posted 22 points and five boards. With that strong performance, MADZVIMBO is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of EMANI BROWN, who earned 13 points and eight rebounds.

Winthrop College Prep Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kai Brookins out in front who had 23 points and four steals. That's the most steals Brookins has posted since back in November of 2024. Jaiden Martin was another key player, going 9 of 20 on his way to 20 points.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate has already played their next contest, a 72-44 victory against Patel on the 23rd. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-45 defeat against Calvary Christian on the 24th.
