For the first time this season, Wake Prep Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Wake Prep Academy earned an 8-3 victory over South Granville.
Branden Sigman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Wake Prep Academy let Russell Fowler and Ethan Hernandez run wild. Fowler scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Hernandez scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Hernandez a new career-high. Garrett Watkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, NCSSM: Durham can bid farewell to their 17-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They blew past Triangle Math & Science 18-2. The Unicorns' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Tate Tucker was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Christian Rosado, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
NCSSM: Durham's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Wake Prep Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Prep Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like NCSSM: Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Wake Prep Academy's way against NCSSM: Durham in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Wake Prep Academy made off with a 7-0 victory. Will Wake Prep Academy repeat their success, or does NCSSM: Durham have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
