Basketball Game Preview: El Dorado Golden Hawks vs. Villa Park Spartans

El Dorado is 0-10 against Villa Park since February of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The El Dorado Golden Hawks will look to defend their home court against the Villa Park Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, El Dorado came up short against Yorba Linda and fell 74-64. The Golden Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Villa Park unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took an 80-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sonora. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (70), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

El Dorado will need focus on slowing down Tristan Griffin, one of several Villa Park players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. Griffin's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dakari Harris, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Villa Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

El Dorado's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-8. As for Villa Park, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.
