Basketball Preview: Bruceville-Eddy Eagles vs. Meyer Ravens

Bruceville-Eddy is 8-2 against the Ravens since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bruceville-Eddy Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Meyer Ravens at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Bruceville-Eddy didn't have too much trouble with the Pirates at home as they won 55-39. That's two games straight that Bruceville-Eddy has won by exactly 16 points.

Kalli Speasmaker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. Speasmaker is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Rodriguez, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Meyer was able to grind out a solid win over the Bearcats on Tuesday, taking the game 37-26. The victory was just what Meyer needed coming off of a 60-21 loss in their prior match.

Meyer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Starr, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Skylar Hicks, who scored eight points.

The win makes it two in a row for Bruceville-Eddy and bumps their season record up to 16-18. Meyer's record is now 14-12.

Bruceville-Eddy skirted past the Ravens 27-24 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bruceville-Eddy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
