Softball Recap: Colbert County Wins Going Away Against Lexington

Colbert County hadn't done well against Lexington recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Indians put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 11-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Makayli Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hallie Holland, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Faith Matlock was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

Colbert County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Colbert County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lexington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
