Basketball Game Preview: Gulliver Prep Raiders vs. NSU University Sharks

Gulliver Prep hasn't had much luck against NSU University recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gulliver Prep Raiders will face off against the NSU University Sharks at 6:00 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jacob Marquez and Sean Jones.

Gulliver Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 63-51 win over Don Soffer Aventura. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Barracuda are ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, NSU University strolled past Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 53-37.

NSU University's win came from a few key players Gulliver Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jones, who went 11-for-19 on his way to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Justin Rhodes, who posted eight points and nine boards.

Gulliver Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points over those games. As for NSU University, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.

Gulliver Prep was taken down by NSU University 72-45 when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jones, who dropped a double-double with 36 points and ten rebounds.
