Basketball Recap: Salpointe Catholic Lancers vs. Mica Mountain Thunderbolts
The Salpointe Catholic Lancers stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They really took it to Mica Mountain for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-25 win at home. The win was familiar territory for Salpointe Catholic who now have 11 in a row.
It was another big night for Taliyah Henderson, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Jayci Nelson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Mica Mountain still got an impressive performance from Isabella Webb, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Salpointe Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Mica Mountain, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salpointe Catholic will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paradise Honors knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Lancers like a good challenge. As for Mica Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Sahuaro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Wednesday.
