Football Recap: Quaker Valley Comes Up Short

Quaker Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-5. They were dealt a 63-21 defeat at the hands of the Central Valley Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Quakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Warriors are ranked 109th).

Despite the loss, Quaker Valley had strong showings from Rex Fatur, who rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and Ty Popowich, who rushed for 39 yards and one TD. Atticus Barr got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Braddock Ambrose looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. His passing game has become a key predictor of Central Valley's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. Carmine Cooley helped Ambrose out on the ground, rushing for 57 yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Quaker Valley will welcome Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Quakers' defense better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 29.3 points per game this season. As for Central Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Hopewell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 43.1 points per game this season.
