Softball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Notre Dame Academy dropped their record down to 11-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Doherty Memorial Highlanders by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rebels have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Notre Dame Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Spaulding, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Doherty Memorial, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games.

On Doherty Memorial's side, Riley Cormier made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Cormier has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Academy will venture away from home to take on Leominster at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Doherty Memorial, they will head out to face off against Wachusett Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
