It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Union Area had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Northeast Bradford Panthers 12-2. The Scotties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matches by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Irelyn Fisher, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Williams, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Union Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Bradford only posted an OBP of .296.
The win was the seventh in a row for Union Area, bringing their record up to 23-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northeast Bradford, they moved to 15-8 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.
