Recap: Manti Templars vs. Richfield Wildcats
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Manti Templars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richfield. Manti's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Several Templars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maison Starkweather, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Starkweather hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Stone Mortensen was in the mix as well, providing Manti with two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Manti's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Lincoln Alder was the leader with two sacks.
Richfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reggie Hafen led the charge by throwing for 406 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Gage Yardley was another key contributor, picking up 226 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Manti's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Richfield, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Manti does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Richfield also has no future games currently scheduled.
