Softball Game Preview: Lakeside Christian Lions vs. Saint Stephen's Episcopal Falcons

The Lakeside Christian Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Saint Stephen's Episcopal Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Friday. Lakeside Christian put the hurt on Hernando Christian Academy with a sharp 19-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Lakeside Christian considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Saint Stephen's Episcopal hadn't done well against Admiral Farragut recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Thursday. The Falcons blew past the BlueJackets 15-4.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal got a massive performance out of Rozlynn Boggs, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Goar, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Admiral Farragut only posted an OBP of .435.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Lakeside Christian, their record now sits at 8-4.

Lakeside Christian came up short against Saint Stephen's Episcopal when the teams last played back in March, falling 5-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
