Baseball Recap: Eagle River Wins High-Profile Matchup Against South Anchorage

Eagle River faced South Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolves came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 9-4. Winning may never get old, but the Wolves sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Liam Lierman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Dallin Roberts and Preston Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Roberts went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Jones went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Cash Seebold also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Eagle River's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for South Anchorage, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-3.

Looking ahead, Eagle River will venture away from home to challenge Chugiak at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. South Anchorage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
