Basketball Recap: Scotlandville Hornets vs. Capitol Lions

The Capitol Lions typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the Scotlandville Hornets proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 56-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Scotlandville.

Scotlandville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'marriyon Brown, who shot 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Jamal Drewery was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Scotlandville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Capitol, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotlandville will take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Capitol, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Louisiana (Parkview Baptist is ranked 66th, while the Lions are ranked 49th).
