Soccer Game Preview: Elgin vs. Santa Fe South

The Elgin Owls will head out to take on the Santa Fe South Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Elgin put up the most goals they have all season on Friday. They never let Altus get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Elgin as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe South made easy work of Lawton on Friday and carried off a 6-1 win. The result was nothing new for Santa Fe South, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Santa Fe South and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those two games. As for Elgin, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4.

Elgin couldn't quite get it done against Santa Fe South when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-3. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
