Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Modesto Christian Crusaders

The Franklin Wildcats will square off against the Modesto Christian Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Franklin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 57-49 win over Oak Ridge.

Meanwhile, Modesto Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They blew past the Pride, posting a 74-35 victory. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Pride are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Modesto Christian's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points over those games. As for Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 23-6.

Franklin came up short against Modesto Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 62-50. Can Franklin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
