The Chittenango Bears will face off against the New Hartford Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Chittenango turned things around against Christian Brothers Academy on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Brothers with a sharp 10-1 victory.

Lauren Machan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alivia Cavotta, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Juli. Coon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
New Hartford came out on top against Whitesboro on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Like Chittenango, New Hartford also got a great game from a two-way player: Ruby Gehringer. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Gehringer was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Alessandra D'Apice was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Addie Way was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
New Hartford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
New Hartford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chittenango, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Chittenango came up short against New Hartford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
