Softball Preview: Chittenango Bears vs. New Hartford Spartans

The Chittenango Bears will face off against the New Hartford Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Chittenango turned things around against Christian Brothers Academy on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Brothers with a sharp 10-1 victory.

Lauren Machan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alivia Cavotta, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Juli. Coon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
