AAAAA Region 4A recap September 24, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 4A this week, Union Grove beat Whitewater 12-0,. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wolverines.
Mundy's Mill scaled the state rankings by moving to 179 from 221 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Coffee 18-14.
Union Grove's dynamic duo of Jonathan Slade and Caleb Ham proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Slade threw for 149 yards and Ham had 92 yards receiving.
Paul Burgdorf's team's dynamic duo of Slade and Ham proved to be unstoppable against Whitewater, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Slade put up the best numbers in passing as the Wolverines topped the Wildcats.
Rodney Smith was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 157 yards on 22 carries as Mundy's Mill defeated Whitewater. Teammate Davantarious Washington added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
Ham was the best receiver in AAAAA Region 4A this week as the Wolverines defeated the Wildcats.
Smith was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers fell to the Trojans. Smith's key target this week was Eric Tate, who caught 2 passes for 11 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Union Grove's Slade and Ham have proven to be a lethal combination. Slade has thrown for 796 yards this season, while Ham has 17 catches for 290 yards. Forest Park's Dejuan Simms leads the league in rushing yards with 322.
Mundy's Mill made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,558 from 5,624. The advance stemmed from a 18-14 victory over the Tigers last week.
