Basketball Game Preview: Prestonwood Christian Lions vs. John Paul II Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Prestonwood Christian Lions face off against the John Paul II Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday... Prestonwood Christian will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Prestonwood Christian earned a 54-46 win over Bishop Lynch. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Friars are ranked 135th).

Meanwhile, John Paul II strolled past Nolan Catholic with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 70-53.

John Paul II has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points per game. As for Prestonwood Christian, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-12.

Prestonwood Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against John Paul II in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-61 victory.
