Baseball Recap: Wasatch Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wasatch had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They skirted past the Cyprus Pirates 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Wasps: when they faced off against the Pirates on Wednesday, they had to take a 10-4 defeat.

Bridger Shaw spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Salmon, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Austin Brown was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wasatch is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season. As for Cyprus, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.

Wasatch will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair will be back at it again later today.
