Oak Hill hasn't had much luck against Nicholas County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Red Devils will challenge the Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Oak Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Woodrow Wilson hit Oak Hill with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell 7-4 to the Flying Eagles.
KK Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kinzlee Dove made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, Nicholas County hadn't done well against Shady Spring recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Grizzlies won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 3-2.
Abby Hilleary made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Hilleary was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
Hilleary wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Nash, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Nash has posted since back in March.
Oak Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Nicholas County, their record now sits at 6-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Oak Hill hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Nicholas County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Oak Hill came up short against Nicholas County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 17-14. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
