Crosshill Christian hasn't had much luck against Regis recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will host the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Crosshill Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Crosshill Christian couldn't beat Culver on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Eagles fell 9-6 to the Bulldogs. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tayden Isaacson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Isaacson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Johan Phillips made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Caiden Baker also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Regis). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mohawk an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Rams, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Like Crosshill Christian, Regis also got a great game from a two-way player: Korben Schumacher. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Schumacher a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Regis' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Tanner Lawson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Rook Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Regis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.
Regis' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Crosshill Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Crosshill Christian suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Regis in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
