The Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts will challenge the Highlands Bluebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lloyd Memorial took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Scott, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Juggernauts came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles on Wednesday, sneaking past 2-1.
Lloyd Memorial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan West, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave West a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Highlands put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let Boone County get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bluebirds, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Iain Carner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning four RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Brooks Hendrix was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sully Wiswell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Highlands always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone County only posted an OBP of .125.
Highlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lloyd Memorial, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
