Kearney Catholic comes up short despite Callie Squiers' dominant performance

Recap: Kearney Catholic Stars vs. Holdrege Dusters

If the Kearney Catholic Stars were riding high off their 46-14 takedown of the Lexington Minutemen last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Kearney Catholic took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holdrege. Kearney Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Holdrege apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Kearney Catholic still got an impressive performance from Callie Squiers, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Squiers continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadley Mcgowen, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Kearney Catholic has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Holdrege, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Kearney Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Aurora at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aurora is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Holdrege, they will take on Minden at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
