Volleyball Recap: Birchwood Comes Up Short

Birchwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Lake Holcombe Chieftains. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 23-25, 25-13.

Ruthanna Knight paced Birchwood's offense, picking up five kills. Knight got some help from Alyiah Glaze and her eight assists. Glaze was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Birchwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lake Holcombe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Birchwood will face off against rival New Auburn at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lake Holcombe is set to take on their familiar foe Flambeau at 7:15 p.m. on the 18th.
