            Baseball Recap: Craigmont Chiefs vs. Ridgeway Roadrunners        
        
		
        
        
            Craigmont was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ridgeway Roadrunners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roadrunners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  7-1  back in March.
 Nadevean Sears was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  2.2 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs but no hits. He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits any time he's  pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI. That  hit was  his first of the season.

 In other batting news,  Antonio Grove and  Jordan Jones stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Grove  got on base  in both of his plate appearances with three  stolen bases, while  Jones  scored a  run and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in both of his plate appearances. Grove has been hot recently, having  posted two or more  stolen bases the last three times he's  played.
Craigmont's record now sits at 1-7. As for Ridgeway, their victory  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 2-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Craigmont will take on Raleigh-Egypt at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Ridgeway, they will venture away from home to  take on Power Center Academy  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
