Basketball Recap: Mid-Peninsula Comes Up Short

Mid-Peninsula played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Kehillah Rams, falling 82-54. The Dragons have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mid-Peninsula saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Oliver Carpenter posted 28 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Carpenter has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Latour, who scored ten points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Mid-Peninsula smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

It was another big night for Casey Clugage, who almost dropped a triple-double with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and nine blocks for Kehillah. Those 26 points gave Clugage a new career-high. Tal Lerner was another key player, putting up ten points.

Mid-Peninsula's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Kehillah, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Mid-Peninsula wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-47 victory against San Francisco Christian on the 7th. As for Kehillah, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-49 win against Mountain View Academy on the 10th.
