Softball Recap: East Valley Takes a Loss

East Valley and Cedarcrest squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but East Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Red Wolves by a score of 7-6. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2017.

Sophiya Castaneda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

This is the second loss in a row for East Valley and nudges their season record down to 17-7-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 15-7 Woodland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56% over those games). As for Cedarcrest, their win bumped their record up to 10-13-1.

East Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cedarcrest has already played their next contest (against Woodland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
