Mountain Heritage is a perfect 4-0 against NCSSM: Morganton since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mountain Heritage Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the NCSSM: Morganton Dragons at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain Heritage has eight straight victories, NCSSM: Morganton has 37 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mountain Heritage challenged Draughn on Friday. Mountain Heritage put the hurt on Draughn with a sharp 75-49 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 23 points or more this season.

Mountain Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lilly Neill led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Layla Worley, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 19 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, NCSSM: Morganton took a blow against Mountain Heritage on Thursday, falling 74-15. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Cougars are ranked 75th).

Mountain Heritage pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points over those games. As for NCSSM: Morganton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.

Everything came up roses for Mountain Heritage against NCSSM: Morganton in their previous meeting on Thursday, as the team secured a 74-15 win. Will Mountain Heritage repeat their success, or does NCSSM: Morganton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
