Basketball Game Preview: Calvin Christian Squires vs. Brandywine Bobcats

The Calvin Christian Squires will take on the Brandywine Bobcats in a tournament on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Calvin Christian sitting on four straight wins and Brandywine on 26.

Calvin Christian took a 35-point defeat the last time they faced off against Pewamo-Westphalia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Calvin Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Pewamo-Westphalia on Wednesday, sneaking past 39-36. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Squires' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Pirates are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Brandywine beat Kalamazoo Christian 45-32 on Wednesday.

Brandywine's win was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for Calvin Christian, their record now sits at 20-6.

Calvin Christian came up short against Brandywine when the teams last played back in March of 2015, falling 55-42. Can Calvin Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
