Baseball Recap: Hastings Victorious

Hastings won the last time they faced Platteview and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Hastings let Isaiah Shaw and Brody Dreher run wild. Shaw went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Dreher went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Shaw is becoming a predictor of Hastings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Clayten Arlt, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hastings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hastings now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Platteview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season.
