Softball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Grant Generals

The Roosevelt Roughriders will head out on the road to challenge the Grant Generals at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Roosevelt fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Cleveland on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-4.

Ruby Frish spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Zulaykha Armstrachan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Leslie Homan also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, Grant unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cleveland.

Abigail Butler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Anya Rumage, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Grant, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Roosevelt came out on top in a nail-biter against Grant in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roughriders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
