Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Bedford North Lawrence Stars

The Columbus East Olympians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-35 loss at the hands of Bedford North Lawrence. While losing is never fun, Columbus East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Bedford North Lawrence is ranked 12th).

Columbus East lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jenna Guse, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Messiah Trapp, who scored 13 points.

Columbus East struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bedford North Lawrence posted 19 assists.

Bedford North Lawrence was led to victory by Madisyn Bailey and Chloe Spreen. Bailey scored 22 points along with six steals, while Spreen scored 22 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bailey has scored all season. Miley Sherrill was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.

Columbus East has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Bedford North Lawrence, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus East will take on New Albany at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they will be playing at home against Floyd Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
