Softball Game Preview: Statesville Greyhounds vs. East Lincoln Mustangs

Statesville hasn't had much luck against East Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Greyhounds will welcome the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Statesville has given up an average of 19.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Statesville is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 32nd straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 19-1 to East Lincoln, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

For East Lincoln's part, Taniyah Thomas was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those six RBI gave Thomas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brylee Belcher, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

East Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The defeat snapped East Lincoln's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-6 record. As for Statesville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
