Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Takes a Loss

Gulf Pointe Latin lost against Aletheia Christian Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions. The Gladiators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Pointe Latin lost, don't look at Dean Fillmore. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. That's the most points Fillmore has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of John DeFore, who put up 12 points and five rebounds.

Aletheia Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendrick Williamson led the charge by going 7-for-14 to rack up 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williamson has scored at least a third of Aletheia Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Beau Burke, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Gulf Pointe Latin's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Gulf Pointe Latin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-42 defeat against West Florida Baptist Academy on the 11th. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, they have also already played their next match, a 67-47 victory against Atmore Christian on the 7th.
