Softball Recap: Mountain View Wins Going Away Against Timpview

Mountain View hadn't done well against Timpview recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bruins blew past the Thunderbirds 17-7. Considering the Bruins have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Maisy Odell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Odell was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Lucy Clark was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Sophie Stoddard was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Mountain View's record is now 8-12. As for Timpview, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will host Payson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Timpview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wasatch at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wasps have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.06 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
