Recap: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Randle Lions

The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs were the 21-17 winner over the Randle Lions when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lamar Consolidated was beaten by Randle 70-19 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Lamar Consolidated can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 713th, while Randle is ranked 111th).

Despite the loss, Lamar Consolidated still got an impressive performance from Ja?lace Embry, who picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Landen Callis-Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Randle, rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also catching a touchdown. Callis-Williams was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Randle also got a significant boost from Sincere Timpson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

Lamar Consolidated's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Lake Creek (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Randle, the win was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Lamar Consolidated will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. Montgomery comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Randle, they will head out on the road to face off against Rudder at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rudder is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
