Softball Recap: Gosnell Starts Season with Loss at Home

Gosnell unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paragould Rams on Monday.

Avery McHan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Gosnell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Claire Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

While Gosnell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
